During my senior year back at 'cuse I began to realize how important it is to invest in my health (and not because I was treating my body like trash back in college ;)). A lot of my friends did Orange Theory and I decided to give it a whirl. Safe to say after one class I was hooked.
When I moved to the city, I quit my membership thinking that there was no way I could afford the price of an NYC membership and I could find other ways to keep myself active and accountable. Long story short, I would spend five minutes at Planet Fitness and call it a day. One afternoon I gave in and signed up for an NYC Orange Theory membership and I am SO glad that I did. I think health and fitness is something that is worth spending the money on if you are able to.
I signed up for the unlimited membership, and although it does take a big chunk out of my paycheck, it is so worth it to me. The Chelsea studio has quickly become a happy place for me - a place where I forget about my phone for an hour and sweat out a long day. The staff quickly started getting to know me, the other members have become people I talk to daily and I am in the best shape I have been in for awhile.

But what about the actual workout? With each class being 60 minutes long, it's about half cardio and half strength - what I like to consider the best of both worlds! I admittedly never worked out once my high school field hockey career ended and Orange Theory whipped me back into shape without dreading every workout. I've accomplished things I never thought I could.
It's so easy to keep myself accountable when I am going to a gym where I love the people and the workout I am getting. I know when I first moved here, I struggled to find a place where it would be worth it to spend the amount of money is costs to workout in NYC. Orange Theory is the place!!
